Golden Bull and Virovitica

Unexpectedly (Trans)Avangard

Virovitica will tell you the story about its turbulent past, preserved in the presence, a town of the Golden Bull and the seat of the Virovitica-Podravina County. This town has been closely connected with Zagreb, the Croatian capital, from the distant 1242 when King Béla IV in Virovitica issued the Golden Bull with which Zagreb acquired the status of a free royal city. Along with the Pejačević Castle, the Franciscan Monastery and the Church of St. Roch, the city is also marked by Edita Schubert, an academic artist who left an indelible trace in the Croatian contemporary art. Walking on the main Virovitica promenade, named after that first lady of the Croatian (trans)avangard, you will notice also the unusually painted front of the residential and business building inspired by the author’s work on Transavangard Geometry. Find it.
