Unexpectedly Solidary

The testimony of eternal love and solidarity is undoubtedly presented by the Church of St. Barbara in Sladojevci. It appears to be a beautiful Croatian late Baroque church, while inside there is a gallery of unique frescos painted by Russian church icon painters. Running away from the persecution of the new rule in Russia after the October Revolution in 1917, on their way of escape they found refuge in the parish community of Sladojevci. As a sign of thanks for the hospitality, they painted the church with frescos showing daily life.
